ITINERARY – (FIRST Day)

Day 1:
Arrive in Puerto Maldonado, the capital of Madre de Dios, and take a 2-hour bus and half-boat ride to the jungle lodge. A local welcome drink and a brief introduction to your hotel in the jungle, spacious accommodation with bar, swimming pool and buffet in the Tambopata National Reserve, the furthest sanctuary from Puerto Maldonado, surrounded by monkeys and various species of birds.
Accommodation includes rooms from 24 m2 to 68 m2, apartments with private bathrooms and open windows overlooking the forest.

This afternoon we have a two or three kilometer introductory hike through the jungle, information about the main medicinal plants and at the same time a great opportunity to spot seven different species of monkeys and a walk of different birds in the jungle will be unforgettable.A visit to our 50 m high covered tower completes this first experience.
You have the opportunity to go out by boat in the evening and see the black and white caimans along the Tambopata River. Seeing the reptile in its privileged habitat is an amazing experience

Second Day

Day 2:

Amazon wildlife uses the first light of day because it’s cooler, and so do we. Even if you are on holiday our guides encourage you to do early morning activities and it is well worth it.
Year-round, dozens of great macaws and hundreds of parrots flock to this magnificent levee in a boisterous and colorful spectacle that inspired a cover of National Geographic, obviously much better in the dry season. Sixty to eighty meters from the cliff we will discreetly observe green, scarlet and blue and gold winged macaws as well as several species of smaller parrots descending to devour the clay. Visits occur at dawn when licking is most active.Breakfast is served in front of the Clay Lick Chuncho Macaw.
Depending on your choice, we offer you a river trip or a kayak trip in the river or creek. It’s a great activity where you have a good chance of seeing capybaras, turtles and river birds.
to wander at night, when most insects are active, is our plan. It’s much easier to find frogs whose shapes and sounds are as bizarre as their natural history. You can see spiders, tarantulas and maybe even a snake.

Third Day

Day 3

This five to eight kilometer trail leads through a prototype rainforest with huge trees, interspersed with streams and ponds. Among the figs, ceibas and shihuahuacos we will be on the lookout for mammals, lollipops, squirrels, capuchins as well as red howler and peccary howler monkeys. The Collpas Tambopata Inn is located in this habitat.

The waters of the Tambopata River provide us with a variety of fish such as payaras, pacu (giant piranha), catfish (zungaros, piros, surubim, etc.). We usually fish for two hours on the third afternoon, our local methods always have a good chance of catching some.If you are interested in piranha fishing, we are happy to do it.

Fourth Day

Day 4.-

Return to Puerto Maldonado for breakfast. When you are ready, we will transfer you to the city’s main port to embark on another cruise through the reserve. This time our destination is the famous and beautiful Lake Sandoval. This is an oxbow lake in the Tambopata National Reserve. After about 40 minutes on the boat we started a 3km hike through the forest to the lake shore. From the beginning of our tour we will visit this beautiful body of water. The site is spectacular, lots of birds and a great chance to see many different species of monkeys such as the red howling monkey, brown capuchin, squirrel monkey, brown tit and saddle monkey. river otters have a 40% chance of seeing them.Lunch at the lake. It’s time to say goodbye, the journey is coming to an end. Your visit will make a direct contribution to the Wired Amazon and Tambopata National Reserve. On the way back to the city, go to the bus station or to the airport, from where you will take your domestic flight

Go with a good guide

We had booked all our 4 day 3 nights jungle tours thru this good local agency. If you shop around online, you will find plenty of them. They all are very responsive and quote you and give you the details upfront.
