Itinerary
Day 1.- We warmly welcome our travelers upon their arrival at the airport or bus station, and then escort them to our office for the registration process. From there, we proceed to our office’s vehicle, embarking on a journey of approximately one hour to reach the Filadelfia community. Here, we board a boat and begin a tranquil 20-minute motorboat trip upstream along the Tambopata river, eventually arriving at our first jungle hotel.
Before you settle into your rooms, our knowledgeable guide will provide you with essential information about the hotel’s policies. Following this, we’ll ensure you’re comfortably situated in your accommodations.
After a well-deserved siesta and a delectable lunch, we embark on a captivating trek through the lush tropical forest. Led by an expert local guide, this excursion lasts for over two hours, during which you’ll explore our intricate trails, encountering a rich array of medicinal plants and ancient trees, some of which have thrived for over six centuries, such as the Brazil nut and tonka bean tree. Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for an assortment of wildlife, including monkeys, toucans, parrots, macaws, squirrels, reptiles, insects, frogs, arachnids, and more. Our bird-watching tower, standing at an impressive height of over 45 meters (148 ft.), provides an excellent vantage point to observe these fascinating creatures.
Immerse yourself in the revitalizing energy of Mother Nature as you savor enchanting moments within the Tambopata National Reserve. As the sun begins to set, we return to the hotel for a brief interlude of rest.
In the evening, we embark on a boat excursion to seek out the nocturnal wonders inhabiting the banks of the Tambopata River. During this outing, you may encounter various-sized caimans (alligators), owls, nightjars, and, with any luck, the world’s largest rodent, the Capybara. On nights with clear skies, the grandeur of the Milky Way and a plethora of stars and shooting stars awaits, painting a breathtaking celestial canvas. Following a delightful ecological stroll, we make our way back for a sumptuous dinner.
Day 2.-
Prepare to marvel as the towering palm trees cast their reflections and the vibrant hues of the sky dance on the lake’s glassy surface. During our boat rides, keep your eyes peeled for the elusive black caiman. Also, look out for playful squirrel monkeys, showcasing the rich biological diversity of this region.
Our journey will take us to parrots palm lick , an unparalleled spectacle in the Peruvian Amazon. Here, we will witness the colorful dance of macaws and a variety of species of birds.
What could be more delightful than savoring a steaming cup of tea or coffee to kickstart our thrilling expedition to the macaw and parrot palm lick? As the dawn breaks, we embark on a boat adventure, Meanwhile, we indulge in a hearty country breakfast, all against the backdrop of this avian marvel.
In the afternoon, we retrace our steps back via the same route return to our jungle lodge for lunch
Before it gets dark we go for cayman search in motor boat, bring cameras we could take really close pictures of river bark, mammals, caymans, sloths and many more before dinner
Day 3.-
One of the most opportune times to witness an abundance of wildlife is during the serene moments of sunrise and sunset. In our case, we opt for an early departure at dawn, embarking on a boat voyage bound for Sandoval Lake, nestled within the magnificent Tambopata National Reserve. The sheer biodiversity that thrives within the confines of Sandoval Lake is nothing short of remarkable. To reach this pristine lake, we embark on a nearly 3 km (1.8 miles) journey along a wooden trail. This path constantly surprises us with its wealth of fauna. As we reach the trail’s end, we encounter a modest dock where we board a rowboat, embarking on a captivating tour of Sandoval Lake. During this excursion, we have the privilege of spotting an array of creatures, including black caimans, giant otters, herons, turtles, monkeys, macaws, wild ducks, and much more. We return to our lodge before noon, where a delectable lunch awaits.
In the afternoon, our exploration leads us to the home of a native family belonging to the “Matsigenka” culture. Here, we immerse ourselves in their traditions, engaging in activities such as learning to handle bows and arrows, the art of spinning and weaving cotton to create their traditional clothing known as “Cushma.” Additionally, they impart their knowledge of crafting ropes from plant bark and demonstrate their remarkable ability to kindle fire using only natural materials. As the sun sets, we make our way back to our hotel, enriched by this cultural exchange.
As night falls, the jungle awakens with a majestic nocturnal symphony, quite distinct from its daytime counterpart. For this excursion, we equip ourselves with flashlights and venture into the trails in search of nighttime wildlife wonders, including porcupines, sloths, arachnids, insects, reptiles, opossums, night monkeys, owls, and more. We conclude our adventure by returning to the hotel for a hearty dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Day 4.-
Very early in the morning we will take the boat to visit the lick of parakeets, a wall of earth (clay) on the side of the Madre de Dios River, where the different species come down to eat this special and indispensable clay necessary for their metabolism. Following a delectable Amazonian breakfast and a brief rejuvenating break, we embark back to the city, allowing time for guests to collect their luggage, should they have left it at our office. Subsequently, we provide transportation to the airport or, if you possess a bus ticket, we arrange for your transfer to the bus station.
