Where you’ll be:
Day 1 Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, the Biodiversity Capital of Peru, we will greet you at the airport. We will then begin our program with a bus tour of the city. Afterward, we’ll head to Puerto Capitanía to board a motorized boat and navigate the Lower Madre de Dios River. During the trip, we’ll immerse ourselves in a fascinating natural environment, and with luck, we’ll spot ronsocos, caimans, turtles, herons, cormorants , and other animal species. At our lodge, you’ll be welcomed with a delicious nectar of tropical Amazonian fruits and escorted to your comfortable room (bungalow). A succulent lunch will await you in our cozy, rustic dining room. Once your palate is satisfied, you will be led by our specialized guide through a conveniently marked interpretive trail to Cocha Caimán, a small lagoon with an abundant presence of black caiman (Melanosuchus niger) and white caiman (Caiman crocodilus) specimens. In the late afternoon, back at the lodge, you’ll witness the spectacular Amazon sunset from the riverbank, an experience filled with colors in inviting shades and intensities. At dusk, a delicious dinner awaits you, and you’ll have free time to share unforgettable moments in our bar, equipped with an excellent table games room and stocked with all the drinks you can imagine.
Day 2.- The magic begins with the songs of the Amazonian birds of paradise, waking up to the call of the howler monkey (Alouatta seniculus). A hearty breakfast will provide you with the energy you need for a morning full of new experiences. After breakfast, we’ll begin a hike deep into the forest, along specially prepared trails with bridges to cross ravines and rivers. During the walk we will observe the flooded forest and a variety of flora and fauna and continuing, we will arrive at the majestic APU VICTOR LAKE, with crystal-clear waters, surrounded by immense swamps and gigantic trees. Afterwards, we will go up to the AMAZON VIEWPOINT, from which we will enjoy a panoramic view over the lake, observing Parrots, Macaws, Toucans, Camungos, Shanshos (Hoatzin which is a type of wild chicken with a prehistoric appearance), Herons and other animals, such as Caimans, Turtles , etc., and if we are lucky, we will be able to observe the Giant Otter ; one of the most spectacular animals in the jungle. Back at the hostel, a hearty lunch awaits you. In the afternoon, accompanied by our specialized guide, we will visit Monkey Island, a unique place in the heart of the Madre de Dios River, just five minutes from the lodge. During the hike, we will observe extraordinary landscapes, with lush flora, sheltering a variety of monkey species in their natural habitat, such as the Maquisapa, Capuchin, Leoncillo, and Fraile monkeys , and with luck, other animal species such as the coati and sloth bear, as well as a wide variety of birds. Finally, we’ll complete our visit to the island by enjoying the sunset, one of the most impressive views in the jungle. We’ll then return to the lodge and conclude the day with a pleasant dinner.
Day 3.- The birds of paradise will sing to wake you refreshed. A hearty breakfast will provide you with the energy you need for a morning full of new experiences. After breakfast, we will begin an adventure through the virgin jungle. Accompanied by a local guide, we will hike deep into the forest to reach the Cocha Perdida, a refuge and feeding ecosystem for a vast variety of animals. There, we will have the opportunity to observe otters, caimans, turtles, tapirs , multi-colored birds, the majestic jaguar , and a variety of fish species. This area is unique and part of the Ecoamazonía Ecological Reserve (Geographic location map), which keeps it intact, with immense swamps and diverse marshes. Next, we’ll arrive at the extraordinary Amazon Lookout Point, from which we can admire the immense and magical jungle. Afterward, we’ll take a pleasant canoe ride around the lake and return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, we can make an optional visit to the local Botanical Garden, or if you prefer, relax by the Amazon Pool. At night, we’ll have dinner and rest, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle. Back at the hostel, you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner. If you’re feeling fit, you can enjoy a fun evening in our bar.
Day 4.- It is time to say goodbye, as the expedition comes to an end.
Your visit will make a direct contribution to Wired Amazon and the National Reserve of Tambopata.
You will take the journey back to the city to the airport for your national flight onwards.
