Day 1.-
Upon your arrival at the airport or bus station, our friendly team will warmly welcome you and transfer you to the river port (Puerto Capitania). From there, we begin a scenic motorized boat ride along the beautiful Madre de Dios River to our jungle lodge.
After settling into your rooms and meeting your experienced local guide, we will enjoy a relaxing walk along the lodge’s forest trails. During this introductory hike, your guide will share fascinating information about the incredible flora and fauna that thrive in this part of the Amazon rainforest, helping you discover the rich biodiversity surrounding the lodge.
Following a delicious lunch, we will take another boat trip to Monkey Island, a small island where several species of monkeys live in their natural habitat. This is a wonderful opportunity to observe their playful behavior and learn about their role in the rainforest ecosystem.
As evening falls, we head out for an exciting night boat excursion in search of wildlife. With the help of our flashlights, we will look for capybaras along the riverbanks and spot the glowing red eyes of caimans in the darkness. Your guide will explain the habits, behavior, and importance of these fascinating reptiles while you experience the magic of the Amazon at night.
After this unforgettable adventure, we return to our jungle lodge to relax and spend a peaceful night surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.
Day 2.-
After a delicious breakfast, we will set out on an unforgettable adventure to Lake Sandoval, one of the most beautiful lakes in the Tambopata National Reserve. From our jungle lodge, we will enjoy boat ride to the port, where our journey begins.
From the entrance of the reserve, we will take a peaceful 1-hour guided walk through the lush rainforest. Along the trail, your guide will introduce you to the fascinating plants, insects, birds, and wildlife that inhabit this incredible ecosystem.
Once we reach Lake Sandoval, we will board a traditional canoe and gently paddle across the calm waters. This stunning oxbow lake is home to a remarkable variety of wildlife, including colorful birds, monkeys, turtles, giant river otters, and many other Amazon species. The tranquil surroundings make this one of the highlights of the Tambopata rainforest.
After our lake excursion, we will return to the jungle lodge for a relaxing lunch. In the late afternoon, we will head out to enjoy the Amazon sunset, one of the most magical moments in the rainforest. During this excursion, we may spot sloths, capybaras, and other wildlife becoming active as the day comes to an end.
After returning to the lodge, we will embark on an exciting night walk through the rainforest, where you will have the opportunity to discover nocturnal creatures and experience the jungle in a completely different way.
We will then enjoy dinner and spend another peaceful night at our jungle lodge, surrounded by the sounds of the Amazon rainforest.
Day 3.-
Very early in the morning, at 5:00 a.m., we will begin an exciting excursion to the Parrots Clay Lick. We will travel by motor boat upstream along the Madre de Dios River, passing the city of Puerto Maldonado as we head to this incredible wildlife site.
At the clay lick, you will witness a spectacular natural event as different species of colorful parrots gather on the riverbank to feed on the mineral-rich clay, an essential part of their diet. Their vibrant colors, lively calls, and graceful flights create an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Amazon. During this early morning excursion, we may also have the opportunity to spot a sloth resting in the trees along the river.
After enjoying this amazing wildlife experience, we will return to our jungle lodge for a delicious breakfast.
Following breakfast, we will continue our adventure with a kayaking excursion along the peaceful Madre de Dios River. Paddling from our lodge, we will arrive at the adventure activity center, where we will take a short walk to the base of the canopy tower.
We will climb a 20-meter-high observation tower and then walk across a series of suspension bridges high above the forest floor. From the treetops, you will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Amazon rainforest and experience the jungle from the perspective of the wildlife that lives in the canopy.
After returning to the lodge, we will enjoy lunch and have time to pack our belongings before our journey back to Puerto Maldonado. We will transfer you to the airport, bus station, or your hotel, bringing your unforgettable Amazon adventure to a memorable close.
