Day 1.- Your adventure begins the moment you arrive, as we warmly welcome you at the airport or bus station and transfer you to our office for a briefing on your incredible journey ahead. A scenic boat ride along the river takes you to our charming ecolodge, nestled in the heart of the Amazon.
After settling into your cozy bungalow, you’ll embark on a captivating jungle walk, where a local expert will guide you through the lush, untamed wilderness of Tambopata. Towering trees, some over five centuries old, create a breathtaking canopy as you witness exotic wildlife like toucans, parrots, monkeys, and butterflies.
The Amazon rainforest’s magic surrounds you, offering an unforgettable immersion in one of the world’s most biodiverse reserves.
After a delightful lunch, your journey continues to the enchanting Monkey Island, just across the Madre de Dios River. Here, you’ll observe playful brown capuchins and agile squirrel monkeys thriving in their natural habitat. The experience of seeing these fascinating creatures up close is truly heartwarming.
As night falls, an exhilarating alligator-spotting expedition awaits—venture along the riverbanks with a flashlight in hand, searching for these mysterious nocturnal reptiles. With a bit of luck, you may even glimpse a member of the Peruvian guinea pig family, the world’s largest rodent species.
The day concludes with a delicious dinner and a peaceful night’s rest at the lodge, as the soothing sounds of the jungle lull you into tranquility. Monkey Island and the Amazon promise an unforgettable adventure filled with awe and wonder!
Day 2.- Journey to the breathtaking Sandoval Lake, where nature comes alive in its most vibrant form. Before breakfast, set out on a peaceful boat ride to the lake’s entrance, where you’ll check in at the control point before beginning a scenic 3-kilometer (2-mile) walk through the lush rainforest.
Along this enchanting path, immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the jungle, guided by expert naturalists who reveal the secrets of its remarkable inhabitants—majestic eagles, playful howler monkeys, graceful hoatzins, and even the elusive black alligators.
As you glide across the shimmering waters in a canoe, witness the rare and awe-inspiring giant otter family, a species fighting for survival, alongside the massive 4-meter-long caimans that command the lake’s depths.
After this extraordinary wildlife experience, return to the lodge and indulge in a delicious, traditional lunch that captures the flavors of the Amazon. Take time to unwind by the pool, allowing the serenity of Sandoval Lake to soothe your soul before your journey back.
By late afternoon, you’ll set off for Puerto Maldonado, arriving around 5 p.m., where your seamless transfer to the bus station or hotel awaits. This day will leave you with cherished memories of pristine nature, thrilling encounters, and the unbreakable magic of the Amazon rainforest.
