First Day
River Journey to Tambopata Reserve

Day 1: After your arrival in Puerto Maldonado we will take you by bus for 1 hour, followed by a motorized boat trip also for 1 hour to the lodge. Your first taste of Amazonian cuisine will be a lunch while traveling along the river, leaving the city behind to enjoy the incredible landscapes of the jungle.A thirty-minute walk from the hostel leads to the 34-meter scaffolding canopy tower. A railing staircase that crosses the center provides safe access to the upstairs platforms. The tower has been built on high ground, which increases the horizon of the continuous primary forest that extends into the Tambopata National Reserve. From here, there are likely to be views of mixed species canopy flocks, as well as toucans, macaws and raptors. The light shines against the savannah, highlighting its white color against the dark night of the jungle. When the bright light blinks, the moths begin to flutter towards her. At night, while you walk, observing insects, it is possible to discover some new species unknown to science.

Second Day
Big Macaw Clay lick bird Watching morning

Day 2 A two-hour motor boat ride from the lodge, deep in the Tambopata National Reserve, will stop at Chuncho’s clay lick. After a short walk (approx 5 minutes), you will have the opportunity to see dozens of large macaws feeding on the special sodium-rich clays from the riverbank. Chuncho’s clay colpa probably attracts more macaws larger than any other clay colpa in the world and the sight of dozens of macaws taking flight is truly unforgettable. The time of our stay will depend on the weather and the amount of activity of macaws, since the birds do not visit the clay lick when it rains.Meet the charismatic Don Manuel from the neighboring community of Condenado. Just five minutes downstream from the lodge, organically grow a variety of popular and unknown Amazonian crops. On this excursion to the fruit farm, every plant and tree you see has a purpose.Along the ethnobotanical path, you will find a variety of plants and trees that are used by the local population for at least the same variety of purposes. Learn about medicinal uses such as: Garlic-Sacha, Venison Yucca, Cat’s Claw, Charcot-Sacha, Para-Para, among many others.
