DAY 1 – PUERTO MALDONADO / TAMBOPATA RIVER / RAINFOREST EXPLORATION
Your Amazon adventure begins with pickup at the airport or bus station in Puerto Maldonado. We then stop at our office for a brief orientation with your guide before heading into the rainforest. If you are traveling with large luggage, we recommend repacking and taking only what you need for the jungle expedition, while leaving unnecessary belongings safely behind.
We continue by 4×4 vehicle toward the Tambopata River, where we board a motorized boat and travel deeper into the rainforest. As the landscape changes from the outskirts of Puerto Maldonado to untouched jungle, the journey itself becomes part of the Amazon experience.
After arrival, we enjoy breakfast or lunch depending on your arrival time, followed by time to prepare for our first exploration.
In the afternoon, we set out on an introductory rainforest walk with a naturalist guide. This first trail is an opportunity to learn how to read the jungle while searching for amphibians, mammals, reptiles, insects, tropical birds, and other wildlife. Every sound, movement, and track becomes part of our first encounter with the extraordinary biodiversity of the Tambopata rainforest.
DAY 2 – CHUNCHO MACAW CLAY LICK / MONKEY ISLAND / NIGHT WILDLIFE
We leave before sunrise for the Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, one of the most spectacular wildlife sites in the Peruvian Amazon. As we travel through the Tambopata rainforest, we keep watch along the riverbanks for capybaras, tapirs, monkeys, caimans, and, with exceptional luck, a jaguar moving through the forest.
At the clay lick, we settle into the observation area and wait for the rainforest to awaken. Soon, hundreds of parrots and macaws may gather along the clay wall, creating an extraordinary spectacle of color, movement, and sound. Species such as scarlet macaws, red-and-green macaws, and blue-and-yellow macaws descend to feed on the mineral-rich clay, a natural behavior known as geophagy. Your guide will explain the ecological importance of this remarkable gathering and the role clay plays in the birds’ natural diet.
After breakfast, we begin our return journey toward Puerto Maldonado and continue by boat into the rainforest. After lunch, we explore Monkey Island, where we search for brown capuchins, squirrel monkeys, and saddle-back tamarins moving through the forest.
As night arrives, we head out for a nocturnal caiman search. Along the riverbanks, we scan the darkness for the reflective eyes of black and spectacled caimans, while listening for frogs, night birds, and other creatures becoming active after sunset. With luck, capybaras may also appear along the water’s edge before we return for dinner and rest.
DAY 3 – LAKE SANDOVAL / WILDLIFE / NIGHT JUNGLE WALK
After breakfast, we enter the rainforest on foot toward Lake Sandoval, one of the most important oxbow lakes within the Tambopata National Reserve. The trail takes us through dense Amazonian forest, where your naturalist guide will help you discover the signs and sounds of wildlife hidden along the way.
At the lake, we continue by traditional rowing canoe, quietly exploring the calm waters and searching for an impressive variety of wildlife. We may encounter hoatzins, cormorants, jacanas, herons, hawks, howler monkeys, brown capuchins, tamarins, and sloths. Lake Sandoval is also an important habitat for giant river otters, one of the Amazon’s most fascinating and threatened mammals, and observing a family moving through the lake is a memorable wildlife experience.
After our exploration, we return for lunch and time to rest.
As darkness falls, we venture back into the rainforest for a guided night walk. The forest reveals a completely different world after sunset, with opportunities to discover insects, frogs, reptiles, spiders, and other nocturnal creatures that remain hidden during the day. With your guide, we learn how these species have adapted to life in the nighttime Amazon before returning for dinner and rest.
DAY 4 – CANOPY WALK / PUERTO MALDONADO
We begin the morning with an early canopy walk, entering the upper levels of the rainforest while the jungle is at its most active. From the elevated platforms and bridges, we gain a completely different perspective of the Amazon, looking across the forest canopy and observing wildlife that rarely comes down to the forest floor.
With your naturalist guide, we search the treetops for toucans, macaws, tanagers, orioles, and other canopy birds moving among the foliage. The elevated viewpoint also offers beautiful views across the surrounding rainforest and the Madre de Dios River.
After breakfast, we begin our return to Puerto Maldonado, with transfer to the airport or bus station for your onward journey.

Perfect Jungle experience
We stayed at the lodge for 4d/3n. The place is well mantained, with running water (cold) and electricity after 5/6pm. Unexpectedly clean for being in the middle of the jungle. The staff and especially the guides are well prepaired and told us a lot about the jungle, jungle life, and the tradition of the natives.

Absolutely Magnificent
The stay and the tours at this lodge were absolutely amazing and I definitely recommend it to anyone. The price may be a bit high if you have a small budget, but it’s worth every single penny. So the price shouldn’t be a category when choosing this lodge. There’s a wide variety of different tours
