Your adventure continues with a visit to an authentic shiringuero encampment, offering a glimpse into one of the region’s most significant cultural traditions. Step into this recreated camp to witness the fascinating process of rubber (latex) collection—an age-old practice still vital to the economy of Madre de Dios. This enriching exploration lasts approximately two hours—two hours of discovery, wonder, and deep connection with the heartbeat of the Amazon rainforest.

Day 2.-
5:30 am – Awaken to the Symphony of the Amazon!
Rise with the soft glow of dawn as the jungle stirs to life. Sip a comforting cup of freshly brewed coffee or tea, savoring the tranquility of this magical hour. Your guide will provide a nourishing bagged breakfast and snack to fuel your morning of exploration.
6:00 am – Begin Your Journey to the Enchanting Lake Sandoval
A peaceful 20-minute boat ride along the majestic Madre de Dios River will bring you to the landing point for Lake Sandoval, where your adventure deepens. Embark on a captivating 3 km hike through the lush, untamed beauty of the Tambopata National Reserve. Along the way, marvel at towering ancient trees and the diverse wildlife that call this sanctuary home—playful squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys echoing through the treetops, and curious capuchin monkeys. Keep an eye out for vibrant birdlife, including the prehistoric-looking Hoatzin (or “stink bird”), graceful kingfishers, and stealthy snakebirds.
Upon reaching the shimmering waters of Lake Sandoval, you’ll board small rowboats to drift deeper into this peaceful haven. Glide silently across the glassy surface as you search for the majestic giant river otters, and take in the natural splendor where reptiles, mammals, and exotic birds thrive in their untouched habitat. When the perfect spot reveals itself, your guide will pause so you can continue to soak in the wonders of the rainforest while enjoying your breakfast surrounded by nature’s masterpiece.
As the morning adventure concludes, gather your belongings for the peaceful return row to the pier, carrying with you unforgettable memories of the wild.
3:30 pm – Ascend to New Heights: Canopy Tower Adventure
In the afternoon, prepare for a breathtaking experience as you ascend one of our two magnificent lookout towers, rising 20 and 42 meters above the forest floor. These towers are specially designed for birdwatching and wildlife observation at canopy level, where life thrives in vibrant abundance. Witness flocks of colorful birds, curious primates, and perhaps even a glimpse of elusive creatures hidden high in the treetops. To top it all off, you’ll be treated to a spectacular view of the Amazon sunset, painting the sky in fiery hues as daylight fades.
Your guide will personalize this experience based on group preferences, ensuring every moment feels tailored to your adventure.
Explore the Heart of Tradition – Brazil Nut Camp Visit
The journey continues with a visit to a castañal—a traditional Brazil nut camp where local harvesters reside during the season. Gain insight into one of the region’s most vital and sustainable economic practices as you discover how these precious nuts, known locally as castañas, are collected from the towering trees and prepared for market.
This day offers not just exploration but a profound connection to the spirit of the Amazon—its wildlife, landscapes, and the traditions woven into its heartbeat.

Day 3.-
8:00 am – A Morning of Flavor and Serenity
Begin your day with a delightful breakfast, savoring the fresh flavors of the Amazon as the morning mist lingers over the treetops. Afterward, enjoy some peaceful free time—let the soothing sounds of nature embrace you as you prepare for a day rich in culture and connection.
9:00 am – A Profound Encounter with the Machiguenga People
Embark on a soul-stirring cultural experience as you are warmly welcomed by a native Machiguenga family, guardians of ancestral wisdom in the Peruvian Amazon. They will share the rich heritage of their people, revealing the depth of their language, traditions, and daily customs. Marvel at their handcrafted garments, ancient hunting tools, and beautiful handicrafts, each infused with cultural significance. Be captivated by the sacred music played during ayahuasca ceremonies, a sound that echoes the spirit of the rainforest itself.
The family will also demonstrate how they harness the gifts of nature—transforming plants into tools, materials for their homes, dresses, and ornaments, all essential to their way of life. This experience offers a rare glimpse into the harmony between humanity and the natural world.
11:00 am – Explore a Traditional Chacra Farm
A scenic 20-minute boat ride down the Madre de Dios River will take you to a local chacra, a family-owned farm bursting with the vibrant flavors of the Amazon. Here, you’ll discover and even taste a variety of exotic tropical fruits and native crops, such as cacao, banana, cocona, breadfruit, noni, yucca, and lime—each ripened under the jungle sun.
This humble farm is tended with great care, free of chemicals, preserving the natural balance of the land. The family proudly supplies their harvest to the markets of Puerto Maldonado, sharing the pure, unaltered essence of the rainforest’s bounty with the community.
2:00 pm – Return to the Lodge for Blissful Relaxation
After a morning of cultural discovery, return to the lodge where tranquility awaits. Indulge in free time to unwind—whether you choose to explore the boutique for handcrafted souvenirs, take a refreshing dip in the pool, sip a tropical cocktail at the bar, or surrender to pure bliss with a soothing massage.
Let the spirit of the Amazon rejuvenate your body and soul, as you reflect on the beauty, wisdom, and connection you’ve experienced throughout the day.

Day 4.-
Visit Animal Rescue Center Taricaya: 8:30 am. Travel by boat (45-minutes) to the Animal Rescue Center Taricaya. This project, with its main office in the United Kingdom, collaborates with universities from all over the world who send their students to help as volunteers to take care of injured and rescued animals. The goal of the center is to reintroduce the animals back into their natural habitat.
We will find here different species of animals: the jaguar, different types of monkeys, tapirs, peccaries and some exotic birds, like the trumpeter bird. These animals are taken care of in order to heal them and return them to their natural environment. However, there are some animals that can no longer be reintroduced into their natural habitat for various reasons.
The project has a Canopy-Walk (a suspension bridge that rises to 42m in height and 90m in length, used for the monitoring of birds and observation of fauna and flora). There is a short walk to arrive to the Canopy-Walk. It will take approximately 30 minutes along an open path in primary forest.
After climbing the first tower of 14m, we walk on the suspension bridge (Canopy-Walk), ascending to a platform of 42m of height. Here one can contemplate the extraordinary sight at the level of the tops of the highest trees in the forest.

Day 5.-
Wake up at 5:30 am for some coffee or tea before leaving for a 20-minute walk to the clay lick, where you will have the possibility to observe 3 to 5 types of parrots.
The parrots come to the clay lick to ingest a particular kind of clay, only found in certain areas of this region. The clay is vital for the metabolic regulation of the birds, and therefore is host to a colorful and veritably delightful and exciting event.
After breakfast, return to the city of Puerto Maldonado, ready for transfer to the airport or hotel.
