Excellent jungle lodge and great food and staff
We had an excellent trip here, accomodation is basic but more than adequate. Staff incredibly friendly and the food fantatstic. We were there when there was a friaje so the animals all dissapeared but you get that!! Good range of activities including the kayaking and the Macaw lick. Had a mad Spanish woman going around insulting the group of kids that were there. Lucky she wasn’t arrested for child abuse in my opinion. Otherwise it was fantatstic, the guides incredibly knowledgable and considering there was a friaje managed the tour superbly finding animals and rejigging things to make it excellent.

Lovely 5D4N trip
Amazing and unforgettable time! Every day new activities. Staff are all friendly and professional. No reception or wifi at all, good chance to be away from daily modern busy life. Room was simple but clean, food was delicious. Nature scene and animals were fantastic. What can we ask for more in the jungle? The best during the stay was the cayman night…the feeling on boat without any light, but the shape of the trees, the sound of river, birds and insects, thousands of stars and the milky way…was soooo amazing.

Closest lodge to the macaw claylick
We did 3 nights in June 2016. Excellent value, it is te closest lodge to the clay lick and the rooms are clean and new. Our guide was Jesus, the most informed bird watcher in peru! The night tour was also incredible. Tarantulas, frogs, sleeping butterfly’s… Also during the morning a group of howler monkeys are super loud! Amazing jungle experience.

Perfect Jungle experience
We stayed at the lodge for 4d/3n. The place is well mantained, with running water (cold) and electricity after 5/6pm. Unexpectedly clean for being in the middle of the jungle. The staff and especially the guides are well prepaired and told us a lot about the jungle, jungle life, and the tradition of the natives. They tried to show us as many animals and plants as possible. The activities were very entertaining and we enjoyed them a lot. All the guides care about the jungle (flora and fauna) which we appreciated. As a plus, Polly the parrot and Shaska the Macaw live/visit the lodge on a daily basis and they are quite friendly. The only slightly negative side is that during the caiman spotting the guides catch caimans and bring them to the boat, giving them to turist for pictures. The animal seemed stressed and we felt it was too much. Still, highly recommendedMoreShow less

Solid choice, great value - and we got a great guide!
We stayed for 4 days, 3 nights in December 2021. We got lucky on weather and so did all of the tours – macaw clay lick, mammal clay lick, viewing tower sunset, piranha fishing, caiman spotting. Our guide, Jesus Cieza, was great – very personal, knowledgeable and relaxed. The place is rustic, and the guide you get will vary. Also, there was some miscommunication about price. So – it’s not for everyone, but if you’re really good with a rustic jungle lodge, it’s a good value, and if you get Jesus, you’ll be delighted!

Best part of the holidays
The place was really great and the people, the number of activities, the organisation and the meals made everything perfect. In particular, the jungle guides that we had were awesome. Christian Herrera and Nilton are two young, smart and funny guides that behaved more as friends than anything else and we really enjoyed their company both during and after working hours. Christian specifically demonstrated a kind, helpful and creative character that we all loved and for which we’re very grateful, as the holiday was perfect thanks to him too. We were very lucky with the group we had too as we all were pretty much the same age (between 25 and 30). Thanks for everything guys, it’s been wonderful and we’re missing those days so much!MoreShow less

Incredible trip and the best tour guide
Our accommodation was comfortable and clean, and we had really good food at every meal. Our guide was Efrain and he was literally the best guide we could have hoped for! He was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and made each trip fun and interesting. He knew where to take us to see stuff and different parts of the jungle and went out of his way to show us things whilst respecting the wildlife. He had a great sense of humour and he seemed genuinely excited to see the jungle with us and tell us about it’s history. He made the experience one of the highlights of our trip!

Very memorable stay....great staff...excellent food
In April of this year-2017- I spent three days and two nights at this lodge/hotel and my stay there was one of the best experiences ot the 9 weeks that I spent in Peru.I booked the lodge through Gerson Valera in Puerto Maldonado.Transport to the lodge was by jeep as far as the Rio Tambopata and then by boat to the lodge.Accommodation at the lodge was dormitory-style and this was a great way of meeting other travellers. The food served was excellent-I had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the lodge each day.Snack food was also available throughout the day at no extra cost.Excursions were pre-arranged on a daily basis-fishing on the Rio Tambopata,a night-time treck in the jungle,bird-watching and a search for crocodiles in the river….the staff at the lodge were super friendly and in this regard I would like to pay tribute to Adan-friendly and very helpful…..My stay at this lodge was very memorable and I can recommend it very highly to anyone wishing to spend some time in the rain forest….top marks….10 out of 10.MoreShow less

Great nature lodge in the middle of the jungle
This lodge is perfectly located in the middle of the amazon jungle. Two hours by car from Puerto Maldonado and then 10 minutes by boat. Very close to the claylick cliffs where you can see macaws in the morning. The jungle directly around the lodge is full of wildlife (saw 2 types of monkeys, tarantulas, cayman). Great friendly staff, really enjoyed staying here for 2 nights.

Memorable experience
We spent 3D2N here and it was a delightful experience. The guides, the food, the room, the activities.. everything was excellent. As expected, there are mosquitos and bugs. So, come prepared. We travelled with two young boys and were happy that we could pick the activities that worked for us as a family. We spotted a babu jaguar, caimans, tapirs, capybaras, went kayaking and fishing, played intense games of football with the staff and in general.. had a great time.

Our most favorite part of Peru!
My husband and I, along with our two best friends, spent 16 days backpacking through southern Peru. The Amazon rainforest experience with this tour group was our favorite excursion! Rodrigo was our guide for the 3 days/two nights that we stayed and he was absolutely fantastic. There are a lot of reviews about how things went leading up and the stay and many of those reviews did not match our experience so I will do my best to explain what we did: from the airport, a taxi took us to the backpacker’s hotel where we paid for our amazon tour, got some boots (borrowed from the hotel) for the muddy next couple of days, and were fed a great meal wrapped in a banana leaf. I recommend covering yourself in bug repellent before leaving this hostel. Then we taxied for about an hour to the pickup point where we loaded up in a truck that would take us the Amazon river. The ride was super bumpy, and since I get very car sick, they let us ride in the bed of the truck on a makeshift seat so I could get fresh air. I HIGHLY recommend doing this regardless of car sickness because it was awesome!! Then we got on a boat which took us down the river to the lodge. We walked about 10 minutes from the bank to the lodge. The main lodge is a community eating area…My husband and I, along with our two best friends, spent 16 days backpacking through southern Peru. The meals served at this lodge were absolutely fantastic and amazing and filling. I wish I could’ve taken those chefs with us everywhere! It was always a buffet line of food. (Be sure to include allergies or food restrictions with your reservation!) They also have a huge jug of clean water to refill water bottles. the lodges we stayed in were sparse but not unexpectedly so. There is no hot water and only electricity from something like 5pm-10pm but you don’t really need it other than to charge your phone or whatever for a bit. We went piranha fishing, went bird watching at the macaw clay lick, nature walks, and cayman searching. The tour guide caught a baby cayman for us to see and then released it back, it was incredible! Rodrigo taught us about all the medicinal plants and trees, and the animals in the rainforest, plus some Spanish and cultural things. A lot of people experienced super hot and lots of rain but we went in May so it was much drier (comparatively) and almost a little bit cool. Definitely made wearing pants and a rain jacket much more comfortable since it wasn’t absurdly hot. Cannot recommend them enough!! Totally worth the money and the experience! MoreShow less

Efrain is the best!
We had an amazing time here staying for 3 nights and 2 days. The food was really good and the four other people in our group were awesome. The accommodations were nice as well. There was great wildlife and we saw 2 jaguars which made the trip by itself! However, the highlight of the trip was our guide, Efrain, who was so passionate about the wildlife and equally hilarious. It was truly a pleasure getting to him and experiencing the Amazon with him as our guide. Thanks Efrain!Kamber and Sarah
